Dreama Kattenbraker
"Ode to the Bee Queen"
Ode to the Bee Queen
stoneware, iron oxide stain, glazes, 24" x12" x14"

Stories, poetry, music and found objects trigger ideas for Kattenbraker's mixed media sculptures. Clay--that lovely smooshy & impressionable stuff is the favorite primary medium. Bright colored glazes over oxides provide an aged quality for animals or make-believe creatures or characters.

Working as a self-taught artist and art instructor for children (10 years in the Chicago area), Dreama appreciates the playful influence all those children had on her creative process: expect mistakes and learn to transform them, be silly, try again, never give up.

Dreama's work can be seen at Cheshire Gallery, Roanoke,VA.
