Sherrye J. Lantz, Retired Professor of Studio Art and Art History, became disabled in 1998. Since that time she has continued to produce and exhibit her art and has also devoted herself as an ADA advocate. As a former collegiate educator, Ms. Lantz uses her skills to increase public awareness and further the implementation of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) in local government, business, and wherever discrimination of the disabled is encountered.

Ms. Lantz's art is included in public and private collections in the Americas, Europe and Australia. She has had over 20 one-person exhibitions, numerous group exhibitions, and has been accepted in many juried exhibits throughout the United States, including those at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art, Richmond. She is also the recipient of numerous VCCS grants as founder and first curator of the Community Collection of Art, Virginia Western Community College, the largest permanently displayed collection of regional art in Roanoke Virginia. She received a MFA in 1982 from Radford University.
