"Promethean Blunder"

Promethean Blunder
acrylic on canvas, 4” x 6”

Zephren Turner
Most of the artwork I have executed over the last two years has been primarily concerned with the interplay between the natural world and the manufactured one. I paint surrealistic imagery that involves the combination of natural elements with those that are man made. When conceptualizing a painting, I look for meaningful visual marriages that illustrate critical connections between biological and manufactured systems.

I hope my juxtapositions will present to you an alternative perspective for the way our industrialization should affect the natural world. Plant the idea that our technological systems can function within the boundaries of what our natural resources can sustain. We do not have to live in a world where industry and progress are set in opposition to the overall health of our planet. Instead I visually propose a more symbiotic relationship. A relationship where the division between fabricated and natural systems has been blended into one functioning whole for the benefit of all.
